about
Dance music doesn’t care where you’re from or where you call home—and no one believes that more than Brent Lawson. Growing up in the untamed beauty of Eastern Scotland, Brent discovered early on that the dance floor was a place of pure equality. His lifelong fascination with synthesizers began in the ’80s, thanks to the futuristic sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre, and soon led him to the legendary Rhumba Club in Arbroath—a venue that would spark his transformation from starry-eyed clubber to devoted DJ.
Family came first for Brent, and while he was forced to slow down his ascent in the late ’90s to raise his children, his passion for music never wavered. Now that his kids are grown, he’s returned to the scene with renewed energy, channeling his professional skills as a Planner into his blossoming enterprise, Probtech Management. The company’s two record labels and artist management division are quickly gaining recognition, bolstered by the recent appointment of Michael “Micke” Tinder as A&R for Pro B Tech Music and North American Director for artist management. Brent’s vision is clear: to elevate Probtech to the level of industry giants like Bedrock, Drumcode, and Toolroom.
Beyond Probtech, Brent wears multiple hats. He’s the UK and Ireland consultant for Spain’s prestigious MOAI, a director and resident at AATM Radio, a resident DJ at Dundee’s Music Is The Answer, a monthly resident on Proton Radio, and is set to begin a new residency with Beach Radio. Amid all these roles, he still craves the thrill of the decks, and his track record of playing alongside the world’s top DJs speaks volumes about his talent and commitment.
Not content to merely spin other people’s music, Brent has also taken his first steps into production, collaborating with titans like Hernan Cattaneo, Soundexile, Quivver, and Blue Amazon. With a recent release on Balkan Connection, he continues to cement his status as a formidable force in dance music. Most importantly, Brent remains a DJ at heart—driven by an unshakeable love for the music and a desire to unite everyone on the dance floor.
