Continuing the momentum set by last year’s release on Bedrock Records (as part of John Digweed’s Toronto compilation), Breccia and Sebastian Markiewicz lock horns once more to deliver their first collaborative EP.
Ortanique is deep and unearthly, spearheaded by an ominous vocal amidst a body of heavyweight tones and brooding melodies. Not easy to categorize, it’s perhaps best to just take a listen.
Confute is, anecdotally, the hottest property in techno right now. Having risen to prominence via his Japanese Popstars outlet over a number of years, this relatively new project is vigorously gathering pace. His rework of Ortanique utilizes segments of the eerie original vox and showers it with peak time techno devastation.
Kobana turns in an uber-funky interpretation to complete a solid and varied package.
